UPRM, CARICOOS, and volunteers led a 48-hour sampling at Rincón Public Beach to improve water quality nowcasting. Findings show rainfall and stream input can degrade water quality for up to 12 hours post-event.

CARICOOS and partners are studying La Parguera's coral reef vulnerability to ocean acidification. Early data shows nearshore waters may face greater risk of coral weakening due to higher CO₂ and acidity fluctuations, especially near mangroves.
