A new IMOS OceanCurrent feature lets users view wave buoy time series data directly from the map—proving vital during events like August’s storms, when Cape Sorell buoy recorded waves up to ~18m high on Tasmania’s west coast.

IMOS wave data and satellite imagery captured rare simultaneous wave fields from TCs Bianca, Alfred, and Seru. TC Alfred brought extreme waves up to 15 m to SEQ, stressing coasts. SAR data and buoys provided vital real-time insights.
