CARICOOS buoy #41052 near St. John, USVI, was recovered on Nov 27, 2018, for maintenance after years of service and surviving Hurricanes Irma and Maria. It's key for marine users and part of the US IOOS network.

Sargassum bloom intensity in the Caribbean Sea decreased in Nov 2018 but remains high in the Central West Atlantic. This could signal another major influx in early 2019, similar to the 2018 event. Monitoring will continue into December.

A buoy at La Parguera Marine Reserve underwent maintenance and now resumes reporting ocean and atmospheric data every 3 hours, aiding CO2 and environmental monitoring in Puerto Rico. May saw record atmospheric CO2 levels globally.
