Algae farms to extract CO2 from the atmosphere

Germany is funding a project to grow sargassum algae in ocean farms to sustainably capture CO₂. The fast-growing algae also offers a high-yield source for ethanol, aiding plastic production without competing for land.

Siberian tundra could virtually disappear by mid-millennium

Polarstern back in Bremerhaven

Research vessel Polarstern returned to Bremerhaven after six months in Antarctica. It hosted young scientists, focused on marine and geoscience research, and now undergoes maintenance before heading to Greenland in late June.
