New funding to extend research vessel Investigator to full year operations

From 2019–20, research vessel Investigator will operate 300 days yearly, expanding marine research capacity across Australia’s waters, supporting the Blue Economy, and enhancing global ocean and climate understanding.

CSIRO’s RV Investigator discovered the 1890 wreck of the barque Carlisle in Bass Strait during seabed mapping, along with two more wrecks off Australia’s east coast, including HMAS Pioneer and one unidentified vessel.
