Applications are open for UVic’s 2024 Artist-in-Residence Ocean Program. Fine Arts grad students are invited to propose projects that creatively explore ocean science themes. The paid residency runs up to 4 months and ends with a public exhibit.

ONC’s deep sea observatory supporting ocean-based carbon dioxide removal research

Ocean Networks Canada and Running Tide have deployed Canada’s first marine carbon dioxide removal (mCDR) experiment. Using Carbon Buoys and kelp at deep-sea observatories, the project will study how biomass stores CO₂ and impacts seafloor ecosystems.
